Sea bass is a common name for a variety of different species of marine fish. In Marathi, it is known as Jitadi. In Hindi, it is called as bhetki.

The whole fish is good steamed or roasted. Fillets can be sautéed or broiled, and they are often baked in parchment paper or foil packets. Both whole fish and fillets are well fried however, It has a mild, subtle flavor with a buttery texture quite similar to that of chicken, although the taste varies from mild to medium depending on its type and the cooking method. Whether grilled, baked, broiled or pan-seared, it is moist and flaky when cooked properly.
